Faculty

Ruben Murillo, M.A., A California court-certified interpreter, is the lead instructor and the coordinator who developed the Interpretation and Translation program at CSUN and has now done the same for NII. He has worked with the Los Angeles County Superior Courts and before CSUN, taught at the University of California, San Diego; UC Irvine; and California State University, Los Angeles.

Jane Lamborn, M.A., and Ph.D. candidate at UCLA, has taught Spanish at San Diego State University and also Spanish and Literature at UCLA. She studied at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and owns a manufacuring business in the San Fernando Valley. She is a graduate of Interpretation and Translation program at CSUN and has been an instructor in that program.

Alicia Rankin, A California court-certified interpreter and freelance translator with many years of experience in the criminal court system. She completed her education at La Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. She has been teaching in the CSUN program.

Charles Gray, A California court-certified interpreter with lots of criminal trial experience. Born in the U.S., he was raised also in Ecuador and graduated from La Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial and then attended UCLA stateside. He has been teaching in the CSUN Interpretation and Translation program.

Miguel Aguayo was raised in Zacatecas, Mexico until the age of 14. He learned English after immigrating to the U.S. He is bilingual and bicultural, He earned his B.A. and teaching credential at California State University, Northridge and has taught high school and at California State University, Los Angeles. He has traveled extensively and has years of experience as an interpreter in criminal court.

Lourdes Viramontes is a credentialed Spanish language instructor with many years of experience interpreting. She also has taught Spanish at UCLA and Simi Valley High School, taught English as a Second Language at Simi Valley Adult School, taught English as a Second Language at Simi Valley Adult School, and has been a California English Development Test (CELDT) coordinator. She has been teaching the grammar and linguistics for the CSUN Interpretation and Translation program.


Patricia Morrison, was born and raised in Chile. She earned a degree in Education (Pedagogía en Ingles.) She graduated Summa Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Spanish. She taught for 5 years at Madisson College and is the President of HIspanDirect, a company providing language and cultural awareness services such as language dubbing production, web site localization, interpretation, translation and cultural adaptation. She also studied at UCLA.
